just a few more weeks...

For his job the hubby goes to Spring Training in Florida, pretty nice ;) Last year I went with him and we spent a week in the beautiful sunshine away from the rain and cold of Pennsylvania in March. This year I am going again and I can't wait. I really hope that we can manage to go together with the little one next Spring.
HAPPY SUNDAY :)

finally friday

I am late again posting today but I've been super busy cleaning the house ;)
Our bedroom looked like a tornado came through and I had several baskets of laundry to fold. Since the weather warmed up so much it's kind of muddy outside so I mopped the floors and got rid of all the puppy paw prints on the slate tile.
The hubs had a work meeting so he was gone for most of the late morning and early afternoon. Then he brought us Chinese food for a late lunch :)
I'll be busy again most of next week and I'll tell you why later.

For now enjoy these lovelies I found cleaning up the computer...

nursery in progress

I lied ;) I said I was going to write a post on how I reorganized my work space but then I took a nap and did some work and then I started not feeling so well... I just went back to trying real prenatal vitamins and they don't seem to sit well with me :( I was way too sick to take them for the first few months of my pregnancy and then I just started taking Flintstones Gummies and I may just have to go back now. It's a shame, I was so looking forward to the gorgeous hair and nails...

So in the end I only managed to take some pictures of the nursery. The hubby let me nap and I woke up to a note on the pillow ;) He's the Best!
I had no clue he even left. He also put up the new curtain rod and curtains in the nursery before he left. We got the curtains from Ikea a few weeks ago on sale for $20. They are a medium blue chambray fabric and work perfectly with the grey walls. We are going to move the black desk out of there once we get the glider we want.
The light fixture is from Ikea also.
We got the bear at Pottery Barn Kids and I made the Quilt and Pillow.
We got these cubbies as a gift a few years back and I never put them up. The nursery has this awkward little corner between the closet and the door so I backed them with the same fabric I used for the pillow and put them up here. This was super easy and cheap, all I needed was a glue gun and a pair of scissors.

The crib is from Ikea. It is small which I like and it was only $130 which I like even more :)
The dresser/changing combo is from Babies R Us. It just sat there in the clearance section when we did our registry and was calling our name ;) It didn't have a price on it and it took the associate about half an hour to figure out how much it cost. We ended up getting it for $150, about 35% off. The frames are from Target, on sale for $6 each. Don't you just love getting a good deal?
More pictures to come once the nursery is done. I am still planning on painting birch trees on the darker grey wall or over the corner.

That's it for today. The hubby and I are just relaxing on the couch waiting for Grey's Anatomy to start. Well at least I am ;)

i don't care if you wanna sleep, i'd rather practice some Karate moves...

Last night was definitely not the most sleep I've ever gotten. First I didn't get to bed until 2 am and then I woke up again at 5.30 am because little man decided it was time for his early morning work-out session. He already kicks a lot during the day but it seems to get worse at night. I am glad he's healthy and seems to be pretty happy in there, but I am one of those girls that needs at least 9 hours of sleep a night to function properly during the day...
I tried going back to sleep but that didn't work so I ended up at the kitchen table, with a mug of tea and worked on a poster design for a client. At least it was a productive morning.
So now I believe a little nap is in order. I need to get more stuff done today and that won't happen if I fall asleep in the middle of it ;)

Stop back for a post on how I got my work space organized :) And hopefully you are blessed with some warm and dry weather today. It sure looks like a nice day here in Pittsburgh.

Think she likes that bone?

i think it's called "nesting"...

Yes, I am pretty late with my post today but the hubby and I have been super busy with things around the house. Last night we went to our first Prepared Childbirth class and we actually both enjoyed it. Not much of the info we got was new to us but it was still fun meeting some other couples and getting to try out relaxation techniques that almost put us straight to sleep ;)
Afterwards we got ice cream cones from McD's and watched a movie on the couch.

I also made one of our faves for dinner. I don't know what it's called, we just call it Mexican Bake ;) It's quick and pretty delicious.

Here is what you need:

1 lb. ground beef
pkg. taco seasoning
3/4 cup of water

brown ground beef in large pan, add taco seasoning and water

15 oz can tomato sauce
can of chopped black olives (we don't use them)
can of diced tomatoes&green chilies
2 tbsp. minced onion

add all of this to the meat mixture

in a medium bowl mix the following together:

3/4 cup sour cream
3/4 cup cottage cheese
1 tsp. garlic powder
dash of hot sauce ( however much you like)

you will also need

bag of chili cheese corn chips (we use fritos)
1 1/2 cups monterey jack cheese (or whatever cheese you have on hand)
9x13 pan greased

In the pan, first put down half of your chips as a bottom layer. Then add all of the meat mixture, add the sour cream mixture next and top off with cheese and remaining chips.

Bake for 30-35 minutes at 350F.

 ENJOY :)

We also got a few gift cards for my favorite store TARGET in the mail last week. We used our bank points and also had some points from a credit card. We ended up with $65 total - not bad. Today we went out and bought a bunch of plastic bins in various sizes to organize some of the downstairs closets. Believe me, they looked BAD!!!
We also scored a curtain rod for the nursery for only $7 on clearance from $32 :)) Who doesn't love a bargain??
I love home organization almost as much as I love shopping for craft and art supplies ( I am a total addict). You wouldn't believe it sometimes, looking at how unorganized my house can get. I try to tell myself that it is totally normal not to go to the store to buy bins and shelves for an entire house all at once... (you know, like Martha Stewart would) but whenever you have $65 in gift cards it is totally ok to splurge a little ;)

I don't have a picture of the before-closet (did I mention it was BAD?) but here it is in the process of being reorganized (yes that fridge is a little dirty)

I swear I didn't lift anything over 25lb ;)

And here it is after we were done :) Nice and clean compared to the before. We seriously couldn't walk in more than a couple of feet.

Our kitchen is not the biggest so we use this closet partly as pantry but also for some of our shoes and small tools. I am happy we got to move some stuff out and put it in the new storage bins. The hubby also made some new additions to my work space but more about that in tomorrows post.

Of course we couldn't come home from Target without one of these jumbo sized bones. Gift cards work for dog bones too. ;)

 Good Night everyone :)

i can see spring :)

This day started out really great. First of all it always makes me happy to wake up to sunshine streaming through the windows and then the hubs made us breakfast in bed. Scrambled eggs and toast - my favorite ;) Yes, he's pretty great like that. We don't really do Valentine's Day, no offense to anyone who does, it's just not our thing. Who needs Valentine's Day when you have a man who makes you breakfast in bed any day of the the year? Maybe he just felt bad because he left me to go play hockey with his work buddies and now I am left to do the housework haha...

So today I will take care of some Etsy business and buy some more fabric, which makes this the perfect day for him to be gone anyway. Tonight we have our first prepared childbirth class and I'm kind of excited for that. Last monday we were supposed to go to Baby Care class but me and my pregnancy brain totally mixed up the days and so we ended up showing up there on tuesday, a day late :( The hubs was pretty bummed because he won't be able to go to any of the next dates for this class due to his work schedule. Well, I guess I really screwed that one up... Kind of a typical situation for us though haha.

Well I guess that's it for now. Hope you're all having a sunny day!

improvements, improvements... or moving half way across the world for love

Today my post is going to be short and sweet since I spent so much time writing an about and love page for this blog... So you can head on over to the about page and read all about my inspiration for this blog, how the hubs and I met and how I ended up moving half way across the world for one guy ;) Oh yeah and there are some lovely pictures too.

Have fun reading and leave me a comment if you want.
