backyard madness
We are totally backyard challenged around here ;) We need Yard Crashers or Desperate Landscapes to stop by for an intervention...
This is what it looked like a few weeks ago with stuff actually starting to grow again. You do not want to see it during the winter :(
Those steps on the right side get washed out every time we get a heavy rain and we end up with a pile of loose dirt on the patio. We just planted grass on that upper terrace and put on those lovely blankets so that the seed wouldn't all get washed down with the next rain. It is actually growing pretty well by now. It's not the perfect solution we were looking for but since the landscaping estimate for the lower terrace came to over $4000!!! we decided this was all we could afford for now.
It has been such an eye sore for 3 years now that I just didn't want to look at dirt any longer.
Anyone else have a disaster area around their house??? ;)

crazy in love
Love this man ;)
This is us on our little end of baseball season get-away in Miami last year. It was soon after we found out I was pregnant and believe it or not I actually felt awful for most of this trip and the weeks after...
Now that this baby is about to be born I am wondering if we will ever be this silly and carefree again? For almost 6 years of our marriage it has been all about us. Now we are welcoming this little one into our life and with it comes all this crazy responsibility.
We are so excited and terrified at the same time :)

still preggo...
Yes, I am still around and Yes, I am also still pregnant ;) My due date (May 21st) has come and gone without this little man seeming to care much. No contractions for this momma, just a heavy belly and a child that seems perfectly content with kicking me for a while longer...
Obviously, my doctors would like to induce no later than 41 weeks, which would be Saturday. I told them I don't want to be induced so they made sure to let me know that they don't schedule inductions on weekends and then Monday would be labor day... Kinda made me laugh a little since I don't think babies care about what day of the week it is.
So I am still waiting, impatiently of course and hoping he will be here before Thursday so that I don't have to discuss the whole induction thing again at my next appointment. Also, husband is off for a week starting on Thursday so it would be awesome if the little man could make his entrance soon, so daddy doesn't have to miss any more work than necessary.
We actually went to the Pike Days yard sales on Saturday and it was a gorgeous, hot day. I scored a bunch of vintage fabrics and trims for next to nothing. I was so hot all day but that totally made all the walking around worth it ;)
And of course and most importantly, my mom came in from Germany on the 17th and has already been so much help. She helps with the laundry, cleaning and even cooks for us. We did a little shopping here and there and are just trying to walk this baby out of me.
So happy she is here!!!
Thanks everyone for sticking around even though there hasn't been much to read lately. I have a couple of guest posts lined up for after the baby comes and hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures here and there.

i wore what?
I got a free subscription to Nylon Magazine with a recent purchase I made at Forever 21. As I was looking through the first issue I got in the mail a few days ago, I saw an ad for Buffalo Jeans. Now I don't know if they are even the same brand but it reminded me of the probably biggest fashion faux pas I have ever made in my life. I was probably 13 or 14 and these Buffalo platform shoes where the must-have around my corners. Don't get me wrong, I was not into techno music or going to raves ;) I simply have no idea why I needed to have these shoes so badly. They were expensive too. Probably around $100 which is a lot of dough for a teenager.

Yeah, I know... Horrible right? I saved up forever to get these puppies. Now I remember mine looking a little different from these, I think there was some dark purple color involved, but you get the overall "beauty" from these ones just as well ;)
I had to laugh at myself when I remembered how happy I was to own a pair... My parents thought they looked ridiculous. Like a shoe for someone with a disability who would have to wear it to even out their uneven legs. A lot of my friends even hated them, but there were just as many that wore and loved them. So what are your biggest fashion faux pas? I would really love to know that I am not the only one with bad pubescent taste.

37 weeks preggo
Slacking off with my posts again ;) I've just been so busy preparing for the baby... My family flew back to Germany :( and the hubby is coming home from a road trip tomorrow night :) I took these pics over a week ago so I guess I was somewhere between 36-37 weeks pregnant. I will be 38 weeks on Saturday. Wow, where has the time gone? For all I know I could be holding this little guy within the next couple of weeks. I am so excited, anxious, prepared and unprepared at the same time, full of love for this little one already, full of love for his daddy for giving me this gift of being a mom and supporting me through the ups and downs of the pregnancy, afraid of the sleepless nights and the huge responsibility of taking care of such a fragile, little life, and I am ready to open the next chapter in my life: trying to be the best mommy I can be :)
For now, I will just enjoy the calm and quiet of those few days ahead of me and pray for an uneventful and natural delivery.

i spy jewelry edition
Today i am linking up to Little Miss Momma's I Spy: Jewelry Edition.
Sorry about the somewhat awful pics, the lighting was pretty crappy ;) I am a serious Jewelry addict as you can tell and this was a lot of fun to do. Now I'm gonna go enjoy the sunshine :) Hope you all are having a sunshiny day, too!
PS: In case you were wondering, Bijou Brigitte is a Jewelry Store chain in Europe ;) And I misspelled it every time lol! I always sucked at French...

umm, yeah I'm still here...
Holy laziness I guess ;) I know I've been very absent... I love my blog, I miss my blog, but this pregnancy along with everything else that's been going on (like this nice little cold I have) is kicking my butt (which by the way is also getting bigger by the day, lol). My dad and brother came in for a surprise visit all the way from Germany last Friday. Dad had to leave on Monday but little bro is still here until next Monday. He is bored out of his mind I am sure, since I can't provide much entertainment at the moment. I hope he understands. The hubby has been working crazy hours and baseball is once again in control of our lives ;) In my mind I am already planning our post-season get-away to the Caribbean. Wonder how that will go with a 4 months old...
The weather is finally coming around but with all the heat and thunderstorms it gets almost unbearably humid and stuffy in the house. Who knew we would have to go straight from heating to air conditioning? No, don't worry, I am still refusing to take it that far. For now we try and keep the windows open and the fans running.
I went to the OB today and it seems like the little peanut is still having a blast in there. They did a strep B test and asked if i wanted my cervix checked. I declined. I don't really see the need for it just yet. They will probably start checking either next week or the week after and that's fine with me. I will spare you my insurance issues for now. Just know that I am seriously ticked off at these office ladies that treat you like a second class citizen because you dared to have your insurance company re-process a claim because you didn't feel like forking over $300 for an immunization you were told you needed to get. I seriously had to explain myself 5 times before she finally figured out that I did not owe them $300 at all. No one should have to pay that much money for a shot but if I knew that I owed it I would have payed it a long time ago. Get off your high horse lady! Sorry about the rant...
So tonight we are having a pet funeral at the in-laws house. Our sweet Lady pup had to be put down last night after having many, many seizures and simply being in too bad shape. My in-laws adopted her about 4 years ago from a local shelter. We never found out how old she really was, we just knew she was older. The vet guessed that she was at least 12 and may have suffered a stroke or a brain tumor. I guess it was her time to go. She will certainly be missed by all of us.
But after all the complaining I do on a daily basis, about things that are really not that important, I am thankful that a rainy afternoon at my house looks like this. With two sleepy men and a sleepy girl all cuddled up in the window seat for a little nap. And soon, very soon, there will be another little man to join the sleepy train and all of this will have been worth it :)
